FAQ
Short answers about the site, the recall data, and email alerts.
What is KidRecall?
KidRecall is a free lookup for US recalls of baby and kids' products, such as car seats, cribs, strollers, and toys. It restates the official notice in plain language and links to it. KidRecall is not the agency that issued the recall.
Where does the recall data come from?
Product recalls come from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Child car seat recalls come from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). KidRecall does not invent recall facts. The official notice is the one to follow.
How often does KidRecall update?
We pull new notices from CPSC and NHTSA and add them here when that refresh runs. A recall can be on the agency site before it shows up on KidRecall. This is not a live feed. Email alerts, when you have them on, are checked about once a day.
Is KidRecall free?
Yes. Searching and reading recalls is free. You do not need an account.
How do alerts work?
You can ask for an email when a new recall might match a category, a brand, or a product keyword you choose. We send a confirmation link first. Nothing is turned on until you confirm. An alert calls a hit a possible match and asks you to check the model number on your product.
Are alerts guaranteed?
No. Alerts are best-effort and are not guaranteed. They can be late, incomplete, or missed. They are not a substitute for the official CPSC or NHTSA notice, or for registering your products with the manufacturer.
What should I do if my product is recalled?
Stop using the product. Contact the manufacturer using the details on the official notice, and follow the remedy they describe. KidRecall cannot start a repair or a refund for you.
How do I unsubscribe and delete my data?
Every KidRecall email has a one-click unsubscribe link for that alert, and a manage link. Opening the unsubscribe link deletes that alert, including the email address stored for it and the record of which notices were sent. The manage page can remove one alert or delete everything stored for that email. There is no separate account. For any other privacy request, use the contact form and choose Privacy request.
How does KidRecall make money?
The lookup is free. Later, some buying guides may include affiliate links. If you buy something through one of those links, we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. That does not change the recall information. Recall pages do not include shopping links.
